Types of Hearing Aides | Caring for Your Hearing Aides

The most popular types of hearing aids can be divided into four categories:

 Completely-in-the-canal
 In-the-canal
 In-the-ear
 Behind-the-ear


Completely-in-the-canal (CIC)

The smallest hearing aid which is almost invisible in the ear. These hearing aids are restricted to people with ear canals large enough to accommodate the whole hearing aid.

In-the-canal (ITC)
This hearing aid is a bit larger than the Completely-in-the-Canal type. This kind of hearing aid is normally used in cases of mild to moderate hearing loss.

In-the-Ear (ITE)
In-the-Ear hearing aid are larger, and therefore has more features. It can also accommodate larger sound amplifiers. This type of hearing aid is also easier to accommodate than the previous two.

Behind-the-Ear (BTE)

The electronics are housed in a case that is fitted behind the ear. Because of their robust design, this type is especially recommended for children.
